Urgup Municipality Assembly has named the region called “Fairy Chimneys”, which is located at the western entrance of Urgup, which has become the symbol of Cappadocia and is among the most photographed spots in the world, with names such as Üç Güzeller and Çatalkaya.

At the May council meeting of Ürgüp Municipality, the issue of naming Üç Güzeller as fairy chimneys, which was added to the agenda, was discussed and voted.

“It was decided by majority vote to give the name “Fairy Chimneys” to the area in question in accordance with paragraph (n) of Article 18 of Article 18 of the Law No. 5393, since the fairy chimneys, which are our historical and cultural symbol at the western entrance of Ürgüp (Nevşehir direction entrance), are named with different names (Üçgüzeller, Çatalkaya) among the people, which causes information pollution and is not suitable for its historical and cultural value at the same time.” It was said.
