Architecture in Urgup
Almost every corner of Urgup, which exhibits an architecture intertwined with rock masses, bears traces of a different era.
It is as if life in the rock houses has never been interrupted for thousands of years. It is possible to photograph a Seljuk stone structure and an elegant Ottoman mansion side by side.

The traditional stone architecture of Cappadocia is also evident here. In many buildings, half of the structure is inside a rock cavity, while the other half protrudes out in sections built with cut stones. Exquisite stone workmanship, especially on the door thresholds, is indispensable for the original Urgup houses.

Old settlements such as Esbelli, Yunak, Temenni Dereler and Kayakapı are the parts where traditional architecture is the most intense.
