    Türkan Diker

She is the daughter of the late Teacher İbrahim Bey from the Müftüzadeler family of Ürgüp and the late Rabia Hanım. She is also the sister of the late Nihat Aşçı and the late Kumral Aşçı.
She was born in Ürgüp in 1925. In 1942, she married Mehmet Diker from the Taflıoğlu family in Ürgüp and settled in Istanbul.
She lost her husband in 1977. They did not have any children. Since she loved children and Ürgüp very much and placed great importance on education, her greatest desire was to build a school in her hometown of Ürgüp. She fulfilled this wish by having a school built in Ürgüp.
Her husband, Mehmet Diker, also shared the same thoughts and built the Mehmet Diker Primary School.

For this noble cause, the Diker couple donated all their wealth to the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV). According to their will, a portion of the TEV scholarship is annually awarded to university students who graduate from the Türkan Diker and Mehmet Diker schools.
