    Historical Ürgüp Bathhouse

    Duayeri, İstiklal Cd. No:18, 50350 Ürgüp/Nevşehir

Built between 1726 and 1727, the bathhouse was restored between 1900 and 1902. Constructed from cut stone, its central dressing area, featuring a fountain, is covered by a dome.

The central section of the cooling room is also domed, with additional domed structures on the sides. Through a round-arched doorway, one enters the hot room, which features a central heated platform (göbektaşı) and basins (kurnas) on the sides.

To the west of the hot room, there is a water reservoir and a furnace (külhan). The bathhouse is still in use today, and its inscription was written by Nedim.

As is well known, Turks and Greeks lived together in Ürgüp until the 1924 population exchange.

The inscription, covering the period from the bathhouse's construction to its completion, is engraved on a marble block and consists of two sections: the left side indicating its construction and the right side its completion.
