    Hanife - Memiş Aksoy

    HANİFE and MEMİŞ AKSOY

    Hanife Aksoy was born in 1939 in Karain Village, which is part of Ürgüp. She attended primary school in Karain Village. In 1959, she married Memiş Aksoy. In 1969, they moved to Sweden, where they worked together. They worked in cleaning companies until 2010 and then returned to their homeland. Her husband, Memiş Aksoy, passed away in 2010. The philanthropist Hanife Aksoy continues to live in Ürgüp.

    They used the money they earned in Sweden for various charitable causes in Ürgüp. Some of their contributions include:

    • In 1986, they built the Hanife Memiş Aksoy Primary School in Bahçelievler Mahallesi, Ürgüp.

    • They also funded the construction of the Memiş Aksoy Mosque in Bahçelievler Mahallesi.

    • They contributed to the establishment of the Hanife Memiş Aksoy Rehabilitation Center in Bahçelievler Mahallesi.

    • They also built the Hanife Memiş Aksoy Kindergarten classrooms next to Ayhan Ertürk Primary School.
